A Cool Coastal Session with the Bustamante Family

There’s something extraordinary about revisiting a family’s story year after year—witnessing their love grow, their bond deepen, and these little moments that only get sweeter with time. Photographing the Bustamante family—Martika, Javie, Illianna, and Rosalyn—has been just that: an honor and a joy.

This session brought something wonderfully different. We traded golden sunsets for overcast skies and warm sand for a cool breeze. It was the kind of beach day that made you want to definitely wrap yourself in a blanket. I remember listening to the waves speak—We had the beach to ourselves. So we laid out books, played with seashells, and created a cozy little world right there along the shore.

Watching Martika and Javie with their girls is witnessing love in motion— full of fun. Illianna and Rosalyn were their radiant, adventurous selves, and it’s been such a gift to photograph them these last couple of years. Their personalities shine brighter each time.

As I look forward to our next session, I’m remind when they are ready. I know of this truth:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11
This session—this season—was exactly as it should be.
